Accessibility Statement

Effective Date: June 19, 2026

Our Commitment

Global Build International Foundation Inc. ("GBI Foundation," "we," "us," or "our") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 47-4016484) committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities. We believe that every individual — regardless of ability, assistive technology, or device — deserves equitable access to the information, resources, and services available on our website.

Our commitment to accessibility reflects our broader mission of empowering communities and advancing equity. We strive to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standards across all pages and digital content published on gbifoundation.org. As a nonprofit dedicated to building inclusive futures, we recognize that accessibility is not a one-time effort but an ongoing responsibility to the communities we serve.

Standards We Follow

GBI Foundation (EIN: 47-4016484) designs and develops our digital presence in accordance with the following accessibility standards and regulations:

  • WCAG 2.2 Level AA: The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) represent the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility. We target Level AA conformance across all four principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust.
  • Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act: We align our digital content with the accessibility requirements outlined in Section 508, ensuring that our website is accessible to individuals with disabilities who rely on assistive technologies.
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): We are committed to compliance with Title III of the ADA as it applies to digital accessibility and public accommodations in the online environment.

Measures We Have Taken

To ensure a consistently accessible experience, GBI Foundation has implemented the following measures throughout our website:

  • Semantic HTML: We use proper HTML5 semantic elements (header, nav, main, article, section, footer) to provide meaningful document structure that assistive technologies can interpret correctly.
  • ARIA Labels and Landmarks: We implement WAI-ARIA attributes where appropriate to provide additional context for screen readers and other assistive technologies, including labeled navigation regions and interactive components.
  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements on our website, including links, buttons, forms, and menus, are fully operable using keyboard-only navigation. Tab order follows a logical, intuitive sequence throughout each page.
  • Color Contrast: We maintain a minimum color contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text, meeting WCAG 2.2 Level AA requirements. Our color palette has been specifically designed and tested for accessibility compliance.
  • Skip Links: We provide a "Skip to main content" link at the top of every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repetitive navigation elements and proceed directly to primary content.
  • Alternative Text: All meaningful images, graphics, and non-text content include descriptive alt text that conveys the purpose and content of the visual element. Decorative images are marked appropriately to be ignored by assistive technologies.
  • Focus Indicators: We implement visible focus indicators on all interactive elements so keyboard users can clearly identify which element currently has focus. Focus styles are consistent and prominent throughout the site.
  • Responsive Design: Our website is fully responsive and functions correctly across all screen sizes, from mobile devices to large desktop displays. Content reflows properly at up to 400% zoom without horizontal scrolling or loss of information.
  • Reduced Motion Support: We respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query and minimize or eliminate animations and transitions for users who have indicated a preference for reduced motion in their operating system settings.

Known Limitations

While we strive for comprehensive accessibility across our entire digital presence, we acknowledge that some content may not yet be fully accessible. The following known limitations exist:

  • Third-Party Content: Some embedded content from third-party platforms (such as video players, social media feeds, donation processing widgets, and analytics tools) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.2 AA standards. We actively work with our vendors and service providers to improve the accessibility of these integrations.
  • Legacy Documents: Certain older PDF documents or archived resources published before our current accessibility standards were adopted may not be fully accessible. We are working to remediate these documents on a priority basis and will provide accessible alternatives upon request.
  • Dynamic Content: Some dynamically generated content, including real-time data visualizations or interactive maps, may present accessibility challenges. We provide text-based alternatives where feasible and continue to evaluate new solutions.

We are actively working to identify and resolve these limitations. If you encounter any accessibility barrier on our website, we encourage you to contact us so we can address the issue promptly.
